Listening to Music

One of life’s pleasures. To hear real talent. I’ve had the pleasure of hosting some house concerts in my home and I love it. It’s lots of work and lots of planning to pull it off, but it’s worth it when that opening chord rings through the house. It’s about 90 minutes of music, stories, laughter, and maybe a few tears. Gathering with friends and those who are soon to be friends.

I’ve hosted singer/songwriters from Nashville to New Orleans in our RealtyCaffeine House Concert Series, and it all started for me with an invitation to another house concert. I went to Bowman House Concerts, hosted by Art Bowman, a few times, and I’ve been blessed with some expert advice. Many thanks to Art.

Currently, I’m listening to artists who have applied to be part of the Listening Room Festival next year. I volunteered to be a judge to rank and rate to help in the selection of the best. It has been a surprise as I have enjoyed more than I expected to. Some real talent was presented that we got to rank from 1 to 7. I did not hear any 1’s and only a couple of 7’s, but the art presented was outstanding. It’s more than music, too. That’s why I used the word “art”. There is story telling, humor and many instruments shared.

I’ll write more later, but you can go to Listening Room Festival to see what’s up. I suspect you’ll enjoy it too.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry
