One of the things I love…
There are plenty of reasons to get into real estate.
- A flexible schedule
- You get to be your own boss.
- Unlimited income (there is no ceiling on what you can make. There’s no floor either)
- You meet and help numerous people with a complex transaction
- Handing the keys to a buyer of their first home
- and many other things, but my favorite is you learn a lot!!
Learning is one of the things that surprised me. I figured that there was a lot to learn (and there is) but you can learn the basics of this business in about 100 days. 100 days after you get your license, that is. Some agents seem to stop there, but they are missing the real opportunity.
If you want to, there is so much more.
One example is what I just did. I took a course and became certified in Probate and how it all works. Technically, I have the Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist designation. It all started with a question from one of my past clients.
He asked me what happens when a homeowner dies and there are no heirs. Simple question, but it’s a complex answer. Now I know.
Maybe that makes me a nerd, but then I’ve been a nerd my whole life. It’s one of the things about real estate I love.
